Panadol launches new pain relief patch

A TROUPE of contortionists from China was among the highlights at last Thursday's launch of Panadol's new pain relief patch.

The patch, called Panaflex, soothes muscle and joint pain in areas such as the neck, shoulders, back and elbows.

According to Mr Lee Hon Tong, country manager for GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare in Singapore, Panaflex was conceptualised to meet a rising need in Singapore.

"Given our sedentary lifestyles, muscle and joint pains are increasingly common, even among the younger generation," he said, citing consumer research which showed that two in five adults have suffered muscle or joint pain within the past three months.

Also present at the product launch was Dr Kelvin Chew, consultant sports physician at Changi Sports Medicine Centre.

Dr Chew gave a talk on the different types of muscle and joint pain and the methods to treat them.

"More people are participating in sports, and it is reflected in my clinic where there are more patients experiencing problems relating to training, exercise and physical activity," he said.
