THE Health Ministry said yesterday it will conduct field work for the National Health Survey 2010 from March to June.
Letters are being sent to 7,500 Singaporeans asking them to take part in the survey. They were randomly selected from about 17,000
households. The ministry said the 7,500 individuals selected form a nationally representative sample of Singaporeans aged 18-79.
Each person will be asked to participate in the survey at one of six venues - Bukit Batok Polyclinic, Woodlands Polyclinic, Hougang Polyclinic, Outram Polyclinic, Tampines Polyclinic and Toa Payoh South Community Club.
Survey participants will get free health screening and answer questionnaires on their lifestyle and diet.
The health screening will involve tests for diabetes, blood lipids, urine and hearing loss, as well as measurements of blood pressure and height and weight. Participants will receive their screening results by post. Those who complete the survey will get $40 of grocery vouchers.
For the first time, participants also stand to win $300 of grocery vouchers each in a lucky draw organised by the Health Promotion Board.
Information collected from the survey will be kept confidential. The ministry said information will be used only to collectively as sess the health status of Singaporeans in relation to major problems such as diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, smoking and obesity.
