Sime Darby's Subang hospital partners Singapore cancer Centre
Sime Darby Medical Centre Subang Jaya (SDM) has set up a partnership with the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) to make referrals of consenting patients to each other.
An agreement between both parties was inked earlier this month, which enables cancer patients from SDM's Cancer and Radiosurgery Centre and NCCS to get a second medical consultation and follow-up treatment from both centres.
Sime Darby Healthcare Group chief executive officer Elaine Cheong said the collaboration is to ensure a smooth and hassle-free process for SDM's and NCCS' patients.
"Cancer is one of the main areas of focus for tertiary care for SDM, which was the reason why Sime Darby Group invested more than the budgeted RM24 million to set up the centre at its 393-bed flagship hospital," she said in a statement.
The cancer centre at SDM has since made great strides in acquiring the most sophisticated medical systems such as the 64-slice PET/CT scanner and 3D high dose rate brachytherapy system.
At the same event, SDM also signed a memorandum of understanding with Hospis Malaysia to set up a framework for referral patients for medical evaluation and for palliative care, which involves treatment and care of patients diagnosed with life-threatening conditions.
SDM has achieved the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation for meeting international health care quality standards for patient care and organisation management.
