I am not sure if I am going crazy or if I have some kind of OCD.

I can't stand family members taking off their shoes or slippers, and then stepping their bare feet on the cement floor outside my apartment, before coming into my apartment.

My thinking is that people's shoes may step on all kinds of things outside the house and on the streets - dog poo, birds dropping, dead birds. These same shoes walk past the corridor.

If our barefeet step on the corridor floor or any floor outside the house, and then come into our house, the contaminants from the barefeet will also enter the house. This makes the house filthy, unhygienic. Imagine sleeping on the bed with dirty feet.

Am I being too fussy? I am irritated by this and it is bothering me. What can I do?

Err, just my own point of view - my husband is also very pick about cleanliness - so, the good news - you are not alone! However, it amy seem rather unwelcoming to your guests if you start nagging them at the doorstep even before they enter your house!! They may start dreading to come over ever again. So, a suggestion is- perhaps you can put a nice mat just inside your doorstep so people will just automatically wipe their bate feet on it as they enter. Anyway, trust me, most people are definitely more concerned themselves about keeping their own feet clean and would about stepping on dirt, bird poo etc etc jthat you are worried about!,, Have a happy day :) :)
