My Super Breakfast - Oats

Source: Contributed by Ng Tiong Hai / NPC survivor

Are you bothered by what to have for breakfast? Or whether your breakfast is healthy enough, especially for cancer patient like us?

Oats

What to eat?
Let me share with you my “Super Breakfast” - OAT (which form the base of the food pyramid). Like most people, I started eating oat with a lot of reluctance as I was so used to eating my favourite local food such as fried bee hoon, nasi lemak, roti prata etc. To encourage me to eat more healthily, my wife started adding mixed nuts and seeds to the oat. To make it even more interesting, we will also add Milo, black sesame powder, almond powder, black bean powder, dried apricot, dried fig, raisin, wolfberry, fruits. We switch the ingredients everyday so as to make it interesting.

Where to buy?
I will recommend you to get the nuts, seeds and dried fruits from the wholesale market in Pasir Panjang or Bugis which will be more economical. Bake them in a toaster oven or use low heat to fry them in wok like the attached photo. Store them in a clean bottle when they cool to room temperature. You can start prepare your own super breakfast like me. Have fun with your oat and enjoy this hearty recipe!
