How to nose cleanse the right way

Preparation

  • Nose cup (sold in Daiso for $2)

  • Salt walter
    • Add 1/2 tsp of sea salt to 2/3 cup of water in the nose cup
    • Stir to dissolve the sea salt

How to nose cleanse

  • Face down, tilt your face to the right.
  • Insert the tip of the nose cup into your right nostril.
  • Do not breathe through your nose; open your mouth and breathe when necessary.
  • Tilt the nose cup up and let the sea salt water flow into your nose.

  • Let the water flow out through the left nostril.
  • When half the sea salt water is down, stop and blow out any discharge from your nose.
  • Repeat on the left nostril.
  • Press one nostril and blow out the discharge.
  • Raise your head and look up.
  • Some sea salt water inside the nose will flow down to your throat and induce the phlegm to come out.
  • Suck through your nose, control at the throat, and spit out the phlegm.

Tips

It is advisable to do this cleansing exercise whenever you feel your throat is dry, mucus is stuck in your nose, or phlegm is stuck in your throat and is difficult to spit out. Usually I do it before I sleep. Please do not overdo it. If you feel uncomfortable, you may stop it, or consult other users. It may take some time to get used to it. I carry my nose cup and sea salt whenever I travel.
